The Oaklands Region
Oaklands, comfortably nestled amongst some of the Riverina's most charming farmland, is known for its breathtaking sunsets and dreamy starry night skies. The rural community is one of the largest Grain receival sites in NSW.
Over the harvest months, the quiet town becomes a hive of activity as harvesters, trucks, and workers bring an exciting energy.
Oaklands RV Park
The Oaklands RV Park, located at the Milthorpe and Hunter St Oaklands intersection, is a perfect place to stop overnight in your RV, offering five large parking bays, water, and a lovely BBQ gazebo to relax and unwind from your travels.
A short walk from the RV Park is the Club. Be sure to pop around to the Club for a cold drink, catch up with the locals, and find out about our town.
Oaklands War Memorial
The Oaklands War Memorial is located on the corner of Milthorpe and Hunter Street. The original site for the memorial stone was at the original RSL building, where the RV Park shelter now stands.
Also relocated, the stone and guns were moved in 2016 when the community designed and built the new memorial and gardens on the corner.
The new memorial features the original stone memorial, 2x 2-pounder anti-tank guns and raised garden beds featuring the Anzac Gallipoli Rose framed in the Gallipoli Rosemary.
Oaklands Swimming Pool
The Oaklands War Memorial swimming pool is located on Hunter St, alongside the War Memorial gardens and RV Park. The pool caters for all ages and is perfect for cooling off on a hot summer's day! The facilities include a 33-metre lap pool, a toddlers' pool, change rooms with hot showers, and picnic facilities, as well as large, grassed areas to relax and cool down. The Oaklands Pool now has a self-access system in place.
Please get in touch with the Urana Council office during business hours to collect your entry token.
Pool season generally opens from November to February. (02) 6930 9100

Oaklands Vintage Machinery Museum
You can visit the Oaklands Vintage machinery museum, open to the public all year round.
The museum, located at 1 Young St, has an extensive collection of vintage and unique machinery and equipment, primarily donated by local families.
Take a casual stroll around the museum and think about years gone by and the significance of the machinery to local farming families. The museum is also home to some life-sized steel figures of regional importance. A few of the Oaklands' locals were even displayed at Parliament House in 2001, as part of the public art exhibition "Arrayed" on the lawn.
Oaklands Orchid
Oaklands is home to a rare, threatened orchid, the Oaklands Diuris.
There are fewer than 1000 plants believed to exist in the wild. The flower is white, mauve, or purple, with darker markings on the petals. The flower has donkey-like ears, which are characteristic of the genus, and long green stems, and it can grow up to 50cm tall.
The Oaklands Diuris can be found flowering in November in grassy woodlands around the township of Oaklands. Preservation areas help conserve our beautiful orchids.
The leading site, The Oaklands CWA, commissioned a sculpture to celebrate and help raise awareness of the orchid. Orchid in a teacup was a clever concept and design created by a group of local and nearby community members. The sculpture is located at the corner of Milthorpe and Coreen Streets.
The Oaklands Golf Club
Oaklands has a nine-hole golf course at the southern end of Hunter St, with sand-scraped greens and wide tree-lined fairways.
The clubhouse is a great place to wind down after a round and is open during the golf season.
